Those around me have been experiencing quite the baby boom. I can't even begin to count the number of babies who have been born to my friends, friends of friends, friends' family members (we're all close, so their family is really like my family), colleagues, high school acquaintances, you name it. Babies are happening all around me and I'm fascinated by them. Don't take that the wrong way. I'm not popping out a little one any time soon. I'm fascinated by how quickly they change; I'm fascinated by how they explore this world and all that is new; I'm fascinated by how one tiny person can capture my attention for hours (while they just lie there, mostly sleeping, sometimes eating, pooping, crying, or giving the occasional smile or sweet little laugh). I'm also fascinated by how this one person can make such a huge impact on my friends as their perspectives change from that of late-20s/early-30s professionals to that of new parents. I love seeing them grow, embracing their new roles and responsibilities and being so filled with a love they could never imagine (and for me not being a parent, I'm still working on imagining it). So when I bumped into this video online I was absolutely captivated. What a fantastic (and moving) way to capture every day of that remarkable first year!
